Steph Essam is an artist based in Scotland, a place where she feels called to. For her, wild, mossy places and a horizon line of munro peaks is where she feels most at home. Her creative practice is rooted in a deep desire to connect with the natural world, not to capture it, but converse with it and understand it. She works on location as much as possible, creating with a sense of urgency and awe. Above all, she is interested in harnessing the feel of a place. Each piece is a response to an encounter with the landscape, encapsulating different lights and weathers.
